Your Gift

You may have noticed that the vast majority of my blog posts are my travels through the Bible. Although I have been a believer in Jesus Christ since 1981, and have sought regular guidance from the Holy Scriptures, I only started reading the Bible every day back in 2011. I did so because I wanted to know God more intimately so that I might make Him known.

A few years ago I started posting verses from the chapter I was reading, first on Facebook, but then started adding my own commentary in the past year or so, here on this site, which has been for my personal use during various phases of my life. If you go back far enough, you will find my campaign for Mayor of Gainesville was chronicled here, as well as parts of my time as a full time missionary with Child Evangelism Fellowship.

At this point in my life I am beginning to see how much I have learned from seemingly disconnected events. And I believe I am seeing these things because I am looking for them. As I get close to the end of my time on this earth, I am looking to set my affairs in order. I know one day I will give an account for what God has given me, and I know I must have an answer.

If you have ever wondered what your life is about, and why you are even here, it is not hard to find out. You may have been tripped up and left in the dark, but it is ultimately up to YOU to seek the Lord for yourself and discover what He has for you. Or, you can click out of here as fast as you can, live a pointless existence, die, and face the judge of the universe completely unprepared. But that will have been your choice.

To avoid the terrifying scenario I just mentioned, you must come to grips with the fact that, next to a holy God who created the universe and all creatures including us, you are a sinner. You’re not comparing yourself to anyone else. It’s just you, being examined by Him. And even though you deserve nothing but eternal separation from Him in a place of terrible punishment, He loves you! He loves you so much that He made a way for you to escape this punishment.

He came to earth in the form of Jesus, His only Son, and unjustly took your punishment. After that claim was satisfied, He was raised from the dead after three days and was seen by hundreds of people over a forty day period before ascending to heaven. And He commanded us to tell everyone what has been done for them, and to obey all that He has commanded.

But it all starts with believing in who Jesus is and what He did for you. After you come to grips with that, you can recieve the rest He has for you. Being saved from eternal damnation is His gift to you. He has given you other gifts to make it possible for you to make His kingdom go viral. You mmay nto realize what your gifts are, but they are in seed form. They must be watered, cultivated, and exercised. It is the purpose God has for your life.
