Win Your Own Election

Therefore, brothers, be all the more diligent to confirm your calling and election, for if you practice these qualities you will never fall. For in this way there will be richly provided for you an entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. (2 Peter 1:10-11).

So many Americans are wringing their hands and trembling with fear and/or rage over who the next president of the United States will be. This week may see many US cities on fire as people either celebrate victory or “peacefully protest” their loss. And this is too bad. These same people seem unaware that there is a far more important election taking place that is much more consequential: THEIR OWN.

You may think you are not even a candidate, that you can opt out of the contest. But God has already qualified you for the race when He gave His only begotten son, Jesus, as a sacrifice for your sin. And God can do that because He is GOD. He made you and I and the entire universe, and He can dispose of us as He wishes. He has decided to make a way of escape from our well-deserved punishment.

I have been a candidate for public office three times, and I can tell you it is painful to be on the ballot and be rejected by thousands of your fellow citizens all at once. But it is NOTHING compared to being rejected by the one true God, who loved you enough to give His life for yours. You might want to alter your campaign strategy and make sure you are reaching out to the only one who actually has a vote on your eternal destination. Neither Joe Biden nor Donald Trump will have a coattail effect on your election, nor will your party members have a vote. Welcome to the Divine Monarchy.

“Then the king said to the attendants, ‘Bind him hand and foot and cast him into the outer darkness. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’ For many are called, but few are chosen.” (Matthew 22:13-14}.
